Grants Collection all began with a little curiosity and some experimenting with Damascus steel. Luke’s background as a fitter, coupled with a lathe which was passed down the family line and ended up in his shed was a starting point. After working with this amazing type of steel for some time an owner of a Melbourne based jewellery store took interest in Luke’s work and began to stock and sell his items.
One day it dawned on Luke and his wife Bronte, that they could expand this little business of jewellery making into something bigger. So, they got to work and after much time, deliberation and late nights, Grants Collection began to flourish.
These days Luke continues to devote extensive time and energy into making and developing jewellery & accessories (all the fun stuff) using a vast selection of exciting materials. Whilst Bronte managers everything else from customer enquiries to accounts, photography, packaging and shipping.
All of this happens from a small country town in rural Victoria, Australia.
Grants Collection specialises in Damascus steel and takes pride in handcrafting jewellery & accessories that is unique for each and every person.
“We wanted to share our love and passion for high quality, raw and organic materials & metals with others through finely crafted jewellery and accessories. Every piece with it’s own style and uniqueness, just like each and every one of us.”

In ancient times Damascus Steel was renowned for it’s great strength and durability, it was used to make sword blades and other weapons. The skilled metal smiths of the day would repeatedly fold and forge raw steels to purify and strengthen the steel. The result was an incredibly tough durable steel with a distinctive wood grain like pattern.
These days Damascus Steel is primarily used for it’s beauty. Modern Damascus is made using a similar process to ancient times but with more refined steels that are suited to the intended use. For example, knife makers need steels that can be hardened to maintain a sharp edge, whereas jewellery makers need steel that won’t rust or cause allergic reactions.
Here at Grants Collection all our Damascus steel rings are made using 304L and 316L surgical / jewellery grade stainless steels which are sourced from Sweden. These grades of steel are known to be durable, hypoallergenic and to have a high resistance to corrosion. We make all our rings right here in Australia and pride ourselves on our attention to detail. Great care is taken through each step of the process. So, if you’re after a durable ring with a difference and want it to last a lifetime then Damascus Steel may be just the way to go.
